Honoring Cikgu Normah Othman (1992–2024)

On Wednesday, 27 November 2024, SMAP held a heartfelt Ceremony of Appreciation to honor the remarkable contributions of much beloved History teacher and Vice-Principal Academic, Cikgu Normah Othman.

Cikgu Normah has dedicated 32 years, 4 months, and 1 day of her life to the institution, serving with unwavering commitment from her first day of placement to the final day of her distinguished career.

Over the decades, her tireless efforts have positively impacted thousands of SMAP Labu students, including the children of former students who have benefited from her wisdom, guidance, and care. Her presence has undoubtedly left behind a legacy of sweet and cherished memories that will be etched in the hearts of all who have crossed her path.

Past and present students fondly recall the infamous Pop Kuiz Sejarah sessions, where everyone had to stand after the customary greetings and could only sit down once they correctly answered a history-related question. It was a moment both dreaded and cherished, as it pushed students to stay sharp and engaged.

Another vivid memory was her sharp wit during class—no one dared to drop anything, for the sound would immediately invite her cheeky yet stern remark: “Haa mengamuk, mengamuk” These small but memorable quirks became part of her unique teaching charm, leaving a lasting impression on every student who had the privilege of learning under her guidance.

Her popularity was evident in the remarkable turnout at her farewell ceremony, which saw an impressive gathering of former teachers, colleagues from other schools, and countless former students coming together to honor her legacy.

May Cikgu Normah be blessed with continued good health and an abundance of divine blessings as she embarks on this new chapter alongside her beloved husband and children.

Thank you, Cikgu. Your contributions will forever be remembered.
